Listen :: Tom Joshua - Meteor Showers
Words: Richard Cobb
A fairly new face on the scene, Tom Joshua has released his new single entitled ‘Meteor Showers’ today (January 30). A heartfelt song he says he wrote off the back of seeing a girl out dancing whilst he was walking his dog.
The Teesside alt-folk singer/songwriter’s style can be likened to Bon Iver, Ben Howard, Damien Rice and there’s a slight hint of Radiohead to be heard on 'Meteor Showers' too. Vocally, there’s identifiably a correlation between Joshua and Bombay Bicycle Club's Jack Steadman, with the soft, fragile and heart-breaking delivery style.
There’s a powerful piano, percussion and strings backing to the Chad Male (Cape Cub) and Rod Jones (Idlewild)-produced single which adds a haunting and endearing element to the track; whilst also providing a perfect accompaniment to the majestic John Hesford-directed video for the track.
Tom Joshua launches his single with his first headline show at Westgarth Social Club, Middlesbrough on February 11.
