Track Of The Day :: Deux Furieuses - Silenced By The Roar

Words: Linn Branson

Produced and mixed by Mark Freegard at Kyoti Studio, Glasgow, 'Silenced by the Roar' is the new single from London-based duo Deux Furieuses.

Released digitally on June 9, Ros Cairney (vocals, guitar) and Vas Antoniadou (drums, vocals) are no strangers to turning out some highly impressive tracks - as can be heard on last year's debut album ‘Tracks of Wire’. Their strong passion and anger against issues of injustice is apparent in the visceral energy of their sound.

The punk-sharp riffs that reside within 'Silenced by the Roar' are complemented by the forceful vocals and piano notes that gradually build over three-and-a-half minutes to a cracking close out.

“'Silenced by the Roar' is about the ascendency of the English 'roar', how we feel increasingly silenced by the government's "Crush the saboteurs" mentality and let down by 'piss poor politicians' who are unable to articulate a response to the failures of democracy and the big issues of our times," say the pair. "The song ends with a rallying cry of intent influenced by protests we have been part of outside Downing Street.”
