Track Of The Day :: Hover Bored - Safe Side

Words: Ellie Ward

Hover Bored, the band with an inapt name, since with new single 'Safe Side' you'll be very un-bored.

The emerging grunge-pop quartet, Wakefield-formed, now Manchester-based (who've honed their sound playing around Manchester, Liverpool and Leeds) recorded the track - self-released last Friday (March 30) - with the Sugar House team who have worked with the likes of Pale Waves - and is the long-awaited follow up to 2016's 'New To You'.

"'Safe Side' captures the progression we have made over the past year," say the band. "It began as a throwaway idea until we made it the ending of another song. We fell in love with the energy that this small interlude brought to rehearsals and shows; so we decided to make it a full track."

The two minute track comes on a crashing drum kick off, joined by fuzzy riffs and reverb, rolling bass, and bratty vocals, which meld into an energetic and infectious number.

Hover Bored play Night People, Manchester on April 11.
