Listen to sadcore alt-folkers Cassel's 'Rotgut' from debut EP - it's a good 'un

Words: Ali Mack

Alt-indie-folk-with-a-sadcore-topping group Cassel are worth a listen. In fact, Yasmin de Laine's voice is worth four minutes of anyone's time on this track taken from their recent self-titled debut EP.

The Melbourne-based four-piece was previously the solo project of de Laine in Adelaide, before last year relocating and resizing, and getting down to recording biz. By the sound of the beautifully worked 'Rotgut' here, it was all worth it. Despite largely being a showcase for de Laine's compelling voice, the understated guitars, drums and harmonies play their own worthy parts.

Cassel are: Yasmin de Laine - vocals, guitar; Holly Duffy - lead guitar, vocals; Jordan Duffy - bass; Roger Newall - drums
