Track Of The Day :: Pasa Flora - Home's Not A Place, It's A Memory
Words: Amelia Callister
Have to admit that it took awhile to get into this. First hearing was a "hmmmm, maybe" kind of listen, but what became apparent is that it is one of those songs that etches its way into your consciousness quite unknowingly.
'Home's Not A Place, It's A Memory' is the dreamy, psych-fuelled debut single - out now - by emerging Brighton-based Pasa Flora - the solo project of alt-rock multi-instrumentalist and producer Chris Le Roy.
The vocal may be the dominant element here, but boy oh boy that guitar is damned well strung, especially from around the 2:07 mark when it starts getting in on the act for real and virtually taking over the show. The Eric Clapton in the making is doing a good job!
The lovelorn, poetic lyrics show Chris can spin a quite interesting wordplay with lines such as: "but our hearts drift apart like two melodies / you in a separate key / playing sharp"...."you and i, my insides the synecdoche / intwined with all of me..." (I had to look up 'synecdoche' as you may well: 'a figure of speech in which a part is made to represent the whole or vice versa'.)
Don't know where Chris has popped up from, but he's welcome to come again.
