Witterquick share their pop-rock spirit on 'Bubblegum'

Words: Amelia Callister

Exeter-based five-piece Witterquick have come out in a full blaze of spirit on debut single 'Bubblegum', which is breezy enough to be just right for summer, yet with enough pop-rock to see it through to winter, with its wiry guitars and rolling drums.

"There’s a lot of darkness in the world nowadays, you can’t even scroll through your phone without being drawn into it in some way. So we wanted to do something bright, something fun, and something that for us was a little bit different," explains vocalist Will Alford. "That’s what 'Bubblegum' is all about, it’s about feeling good, even in the darkest of times. Putting your headphones on, and for those 3 minutes it’s about letting go, being uplifted, facing that darkness head on and giving it the big f**k you, and if we can bring a little happiness and a smile along the way then that’s our job done!"

So put on the 'phones and check it out via Oli Pestell and Ollie Chanter's video, below.
