CUB SPORT - CITY OF ANGELS

The Brisbane dream-synth-pop band released this second (of three) tracks from their '333' project in December, following 'Hearts In Halves', and preceding 'Air' released on Christmas Eve. As with all the band's work, it works a dreamy aesthetic around catchy beats and hypnotic vocals. “'City of Angels' captures a moment of tranquillity and inner peace," says lead singer Tim Nelson. "It’s an idyllic reality, a moment of feeling so good that all other worries fall away and you just want to stay there. It’s about reflecting, healing, growing. It’s a gentle acknowledgment of the connectedness of all living things, that we are everywhere and that we are everything. Catch live at Lost Paradise festival in Melbourne on January 20.
LIGHTVIOLET - HAVE YOU EVER BEEN BURNT BEFORE? BECAUSE I HAVE
Released earlier this month, the quartet from Rockhampton, Queensland follow 'Other Slate' with a new four-minute-plus slice of slightly retro influenced alt-rock, featuring driving bass and rolling guitars as an accompaniment to Kyran James's vocals.
DRIBS - HOLIDAY
From their EP ' Is This Taste?', Wollongong, NSW three-piece Brendan Neville (vocals/guitar), Nathan Krajnovic (drums) and Jack Malolakis (bass), roll out a fast-paced rock n roller made for a dancefloor spin.
ECHO & BLOOM - YOU
Indie-pop Melbourne-based duo Tayla Thomas and Mat Dwyer, put a folk spin on this latest track, released December 30, in their month by month drop following 'Foxes' in November and October's 'Stay'.
GUARDIAN SINGLES - TEA LIGHTS EXPLODING
Auckland, NZ punk influenced supergroup with a revolving lineup (currently singer/ guitarist Thom Burton (Wilberforces, SoccerPractise), Fiona Campbell (Vivian Girls, Chain and The Gang, Coolies), Durham Fenwick (Green Grove) and Perry Mahoney (Civil Union, Crash Material), deliver this first single, the lead track from their debut album, out January 18 2020, along with a launch show at Whammy Bar, Auckland the same day. "'Tea Lights Exploding' was actually written as our first song in 2016," says Burton. "Pretty much as a sort of 'fuck you' to a certain kind of pervasive rape culture and culturally lobotomised idea of masculinity that I was seeing too much of.”
ELEANOR JACKS - NARCISSISTIC LOVER
The 21 year old Adelaide-via-Sydney artist delivers another slice of intimate indie-pop. The mellow, 50s styled ballad "tells the story of my experience falling for someone in love with themselves," she says.
