Japanese Wallpaper, aka Gab Strum, may be just 17 years old, but his reputation as a multi-instrumentalist/producer and his debut EP 'War Peace Rocket Ships' drawing comparisons to Boards of Canada and The Postal Service, has marked the young Melbourne electronic artist out as one to watch; even songstress Lorde is watching his work.
With his debut single 'Breathe In' featuring in the new Hollywood comedy drama film directed by Zach Braff, Wish I Was Here, alongside songs from Bon Iver and Coldplay, and his new track 'Waves' (which features Pepa Knight of Jinja Safari on vocals) creating talk amongst the cognoscenti, Japanese Wallpaper can only be heading upwards.
There is a soulful, melancholic ambience to the work of Japanese Wallpaper, who started playing the piano aged six, and who was just fourteen when he uploaded some tracks in early 2011 that set people talking.
