Track Of The Day :: Gazar Strips - Lost Holiday
Although we still haven't quite forgiven the Brisbane-based Gazar Strips for departing from our London environs (they met and formed in east London) before we ever got to see them live, each time we hear something new from them we can't help but swoon all over again.
The last occasion being back in June when we featured the wonderful 'Bee Mantis' as our Track Of The Day. Now the trio have unleashed 'Lost Holiday', the first of two tracks forthcoming this autumn via Sonic Masala Records. Deeply dark and sonically expansive four minutes, listen to it build from an electronic-like point at around 2.12 to bring in eerily gothic, detached vocals over droning guitars.
Both singles were partially recorded at Incremental Records in Brisbane with Michael Whitney (Nitefields, You), and mastered by Todd Dixon in Melbourne (Sui Zhen, White Hex, Slug Guts). The second of the two releases, 'Daylight', is set to be unveiled in early November.
Can some promoter please get this band back over to the UK - quick?
