Introducing :: The Pink Flowers

This was originally to have been a Track Of The Day for the first song on this EP, the bouncy 'Kids'. However, by the time we had rolled on through the other two we decided we were rather liking the fragrance of this brand new and very shiny Toronto garage pop duo, The Pink Flowers (namely Ryan Faist and Nolan Bennett).

The three-track ‘Joy’ EP (on DIY label Dumb Ones Records) is the first official release after their previously aired mixtape demos. Along with the aforementioned 'Kids', the other two tracks being the downtempo, dark and melancholic 'Wallflower', and the four-minute slow-builder 'Agnosia' - a song that "comes from a loss of sensory. Being unaware of time and it's toll on us as humans."

Recorded in a garage DIY, the style of The Pink Flowers is hazy waves of guitars on a bed of fuzzy reverb, and cushioned with strikingly at times sensual, at others intense and impassioned, vocals and percussion that drives each track on.

The Pink Flowers are a bouquet of joy, literally, to listen to, judging by these three initial tracks. With plans for further releases in the coming months ("with some more uptempo songs - something the kids can dance too"), along with a UK visit this summer, there's every indication this pair are about to take off.

The Pink Flowers play the Horseshoe Tavern, Toronto on March 14. Further dates to be announced.
