If this wistful new single by Irish singer/songwriter Tiz McNamara doesn't have you a tad moist of eye, then McNamara's own backstory may well seal the deal.
Released on April 1, 'I Hope You Know' is the latest of Cork-raised, Liverpool-based McNamara's annual tributes by way of song to honour the memory of his father and brother who were killed in a boating accident when he was under a yesr old. "Every year on April 1st I release a new single as it is their anniversary. My goal is to convert a pretty horrible day every year into a positive one," says McNamara, whose work has been featured in 'Hollyoaks', and who supported James Bay on tour last year.
Playing acoustic guitar on 'I Hope You Know' (although he can additionally play drums and piano: "I have been a drummer for over 15 years but in 2013 I dropped a piano on my foot and narrowly avoided amputation, after a successful operation I was unable to walk (or drum) for several months so I began to write some songs on guitar and this was the accidental start of my solo career"), with session musicians on drums, bass, guitar, piano, violin and cello, it's a richly orchestrated, yet movingly simple, track with both heartfelt and heart-rending vocals.
