Track Of The Day :: Blossoms - Charlemagne
Words: Linn Branson
Stockport's Blossoms have in 'Charlemagne', the quite glorious new single from the Stockport quintet, perhaps their best offering to date in the two years of their existence.
Since we first featured them here back in February last year, they have gone on to produce the likes of 'Blow', ‘You Pulled A Gun on Me' and 'Blown Rose'.
Now, once again working with producers James Skelly and Rich Turvey, the title track from their upcoming EP out on October 30, and their fifth single, is an immediately attention-grabbing piece of shimmering psych-pop, with big groove basslines, laid-back riffs, striking synth notes and Tom Ogden displaying a distinctive simmering vocal presence caught somewhere between Richard Ashcroft and SULK's Jon Sutcliffe.
Blossoms are halfway through a UK headline tour with remaining dates below.
