A Little Indie Track Of The Day at the end of October, we are now pleased to bring you the premiere of Mark Elliott's video for 'China Doll'.
Directed by Johnny Marchetta, the bittersweet storyline follows Elliott winning a rather comely young bear at a funfair, going out on a date (as you do) and all going swimmingly until things take a downturn, and broken-hearted Elliott turns to an alcoholic salve - that doesn't end too well, as you will see.
It fits 'China Doll's' light, nu-soul R&B soundscape, anchored by Leicester-based Elliott's soothing vocals, while its lyrics are "about everything that goes unsaid at the very beginning of a relationship, and all the terrifying subtleties," says Elliott.
"We wanted something fun that didn't take itself too seriously for this video because I think it better reflects my approach to music in general," he adds, of the visuals. "Everything about this video and song was done with zero budget and I'm amazed and hugely grateful to everyone involved. I just hope people enjoy watching it as much as I enjoyed making it!"
