** PREMIERE ** Grim Fiction - Dream Sequence

Words: Linn Branson

Formerly known as Hyena, the newly monikered Grim Fiction prepare to unleash their first single on May 5 on Acid Glass Records.

After an almost 18-month break, the revamped  five-piece alt-psych rockers who hail from Telford, Shropshire are back with 'Dream Sequence', which Little Indie is able to premiere here.

"Lyrically, the song is mainly about the fear that everything you want could just be a figment of your imagination," the band's vocalist Jacob Ball tells us. "Like, you can see it, which gives you the capacity to want it, but you might never actually have it."

Filled with layers swirling guitars and soaring choruses, the band are kicking off with a bang - or, rather a chime and a metronome - as it builds over layers of melodic rocky sonics from its singalong start to the introduction of big drum kicks, beefy bass and Jacob's ear-grabbing vocal.

"Over the past year we've been listening to a lot of calmer, spacey albums, and I wondered if that type of thing would work with the heavy choruses I grew up with, and i guess this song is our favourite that came out of that," Jacob continues. "I wrote the song last summer, but we all really took the time with this one to draw out the space that we knew was in there, and when we got it, we knew straight away it was the first thing people should hear from the new band."

Hear it now below.

Grim Fiction are: Jacob Ball (vocals, guitar), Joshua Taylor (bass, vocals), Dom Farley (guitar, vocals), Ben Groves (drums).
