** VIDEO PREMIERE ** Tom Hale - In The Night

Words: Linn Branson

Hailing from Barnsley in South Yorkshire, Tom Hale (formally of indie rockers ROOD) has spent the last six months writing and recording his debut EP, 'In The Night', for his first solo venture. Prior to its release on July 7, he shares the cinematic video for its title track.

The video, which Little Indie brings you the premiere of here, was directed by Jacob Ingamells at Big Sky Studios, and features Tom in thoughtful mode wandering the back streets and in wide open spaces, and some sweeping landscape scenery which is a perfect adjunct to 'In The Night's big ballad style that is reminiscent of fellow Yorkshireman Richard Hawley, and in its arrangement, to one of Tom's inspirations, composer Henry Mancini.

"We literally shot it in a day", says Tom, of the video for the self-produced track which lyrically relates the story of a man falling in love in his dreams. "I wanted it to be a mixture between urban and rural shots. I didn't really have any big ideas or thoughts for the video, but I knew I wanted to do it on a nice day as I feel it fits with the track, Jake did the rest and that's how it's turned out so well."
