** PREMIERE ** Blossomer - A_Shallow_Sea
Words: Linn Branson
Over the last few months Sheffield's Blossomer have unveiled two tracks from their forthcoming EP. Firstly, 'PREACHER_LEARNER' back in September, followed by the title track 'HLLW'.
Now comes the third to precede the release of 'HLLW', the EP, on January 11 2019 via Instant Karma.
"‘A_Shallow_Sea' is sort of a continuation of the first track we ever released titled 'To The Sea'," Blossomer main man Alex Crabbe tells us of the new number, dropping officially tomorrow, December 7. "I have always had a tendency to write about the sea and nautical ‘stuff’, so this just felt like certain themes continued. It was stripped back much more than other tracks on the EP and this is sort of reminiscent of the Blossomer of old, because we’ve always been a fan of space in our music. Maybe no sound is better than sound sometimes…”
Opening on gentle electronic beats, over which Crabbe’s enticing falsetto is laid, accompanied by fragile harmonies and gossamer-like synths, that allow ‘A_Shallow_Sea's' soundscape, as with its predecessors, to flow effortlessly and atmospherically.
Blossomer are: Alex Crabbe (vocals), Rob Eatough (bass, keys, drum machines), Alex McKay (guitar).
