Australian duo No Mono really seem to have set the seal for evocative ballads and heart-tugging delivery. And on this cover of The Righteous Brothers' hit 'Unchained Melody', out now via Pieater, Tom Snowdon and Tom Iansek excel once again.
The unobtrusive electronica and as always, superb production from Tom I, and Tom S's underplayed, yet impressively effective voice, turn this 1955 classic into a spine-tingling 2018 gem.
"We first performed the song at the Opera House for Vivid Live," recalls Snowdon. "As soon as those first notes come out to form the verse melody, the audience broke into song with us. It's magic like that, this song, it means a lot to so many people. When we play it live there's a lot of space between notes - lots of room to let the words, notes and vocals linger. We wanted to capture this in the studio recording - capture it as we perform it."
Listen - and weep with emotion.
