Japanese indie quartet DYGL have dropped a new fuzzy, garage-surfgaze rocker, ‘Spit It Out’.
Produced by Rory Attwell (Test Icicles, The Vaccines, Palma Violets), the track - taken from their upcoming 'Songs Of Innocence & Experience' album, out July 3 - addresses the idea of battling societal norms, especially those prescribed by the strict Japanese culture the band grew up in.
“'Spit It Out' stands for the idea of saying whatever you want," explains frontman Nobuki Akiyama. "In Japan, so many people have started to be more conservative over these past few years. Talking about politics and sexuality and these kinds of things is sometimes offensive to Japanese society, so people try to be quiet but it's really stressful for everyone. These lyrics are based on that: to say what you want to say if you think it's important.”
The band will celebrate the release of the album in the UK with a headline show at The Lexington, London on July 4.
