Desert Sharks reveal their inner 'Sorceress'
Words: Sam Geary
Brooklyn garage rockers Desert Sharks unveil 'Sorceress', the first single from their 'Baby's Gold Death Stadium', out on vinyl on September 27 via Substitute Scene.
The empowerment statement song blends its anti-ageism theme with punchy guitar riffs and liberally laced with attitude-rife anger.
"The idea for 'Sorceress' began after we were talking at practice about letting our grey hair grow in," say the band. "From there it spiraled into thinking about the archetype of the sorceress as a symbol of embracing personal power. It’s a vocal rejection of society’s common dismissal of ageing women. Growing older doesn’t mean you lose value. It means you know yourself more, and with that knowledge comes the power to choose how you live your life."
