Best new tracks Down Under #46

With the vibrant indie music scene in Australia and New Zealand constantly outshining much of the output from their British and American cousins, Little Indie picks our weekly bunch of some of the best new tracks on offer.

DOWN FOR TOMORROW - SHOW ME THAT YOU CARE

Sydney's garage punks follow 'Thanks To You' with this new track, released November 8. Pounding drums and blazing guitars accompany energetic and gritty grunge rock melodies, guided by the angst-driven vocals of frontman Cody Stebbings. “The lyrics from this song expose the selfish and stubborn traits in my personality," he says. "It’s hard to explain the feelings of withholding and denial that surface when I realise that some people really are better off without me. Especially when the situation is in deep uncertainty, due to lack of communication on both ends. This song is about the emotions and confusion we sometimes feel, eliminating any chance of acting rationally, knowing someone you thought cared about you has well and truly moved on.” Catch live next at Crows Nest Hotel, Sydney on November 28.

MOUSEATOUILLE - MIRROR LOOK

The Melbourne experimental folk-rock band fronted by Harry Green on acoustic guitar and vocals, and drummer Spencer Noonan, lead the way on this latest track, released November 15. Quietly effective, traversing a mellow path.

Melbourne punk four-piece bring more of their self-described ‘heartbreak rock’ to this new single out November 29. A song about the bad decisions, awkward situations and regrettable stories that come with being in your teens, it combines loud distorted guitars, huge drums and anthemic, emotional lyrics. Catch live at Wrangler Studios, West Footscray, Melbourne on November 30.
