Album Review :: Chase and Status - Brand New Machine
Chase & Status
Brand New Machine
October 7 2013 (Virgin)
7.5/10
Words: Alison Mack
Third album from Saul (Chase) Milton and Will (Status) Kennard, and not so much a 'brand new' vehicle as a - welcome - souped-up variant if the old one.
After beginning their career a decade ago, the dance music programmers have honed their ambitions and not least, their ability to produce anthems: 'Count On Me' (their latest single, with the participating retro vocals of Moko) and 'Lost &Not Found' as two. Along with a couple of hip-hop numbers 'Gangsta Boogie' and the Pusha T-featured ''Machine Gun', a rock edifice ('Gun Metal Grey'), there's also guest artists including Major Lazer and Nile Rodgers.
Clearly an an album that is not just one to listen to in solitary headphone isolation, but one to shuffle up and dance to. Kick those heels.
