Malka are a dreampop/shoegaze band that formed earlier this year, have a Peruvian vocalist, sing in Spanish, are based in New York, and there is not a lot, as yet, else that is known about them. They do, however, have a dreamy, hazy, lush-and-lovely quality to their melodies, that whether of not you understand Spanish, doesn't really make a lot of difference.
Vocalist Saric - who moved from Peru to New York City seven years ago - and drummer Dawson used to play in In Flight Radio five years ago, then in 2011 they formed a band called Shy Around Strangers, but after a year the singer left for personal reasons. However, the two paired up, invited the others to join and form Malka. Currently working on their debut EP, and planning some live shows for next year.
