First Listen :: The Run-Up
Camden-based solo artist Chris Patrick, aka The Run-Up, has just released his debut EP.
The five songs were "mostly recorded in my room over the last three-and-a-half months, then buffed up a bit by Paul Tipler (Idlewild/Elastica/The History Of Apple Pie)". They're now available for free download.
"The Run-Up came about last year after my last band finished," says Chris. "We were either all just finished uni or in the final year and everyone just had different priorities. I wanted to keep going , but I’d already been in a band with every musician I’ve ever known, and putting wanted ads up only seemed to attract people who still wanted to sound like The Libertines (who I love, but, you know, it’s 2013), and I was getting miserable having all these songs stuck in my head going to waste. I got a laptop and got hold of a couple of recording programs, and worked out how to use them over a couple of months, and began putting the songs together. The EP is basically my favourite 5 songs I’ve done so far."
You can check out 'This Is The Life' from the EP, which was released on October 27, below.
Next confirmed shows for The Run-Up are this Wednesday, November 6, at The Waiting Room, London with Slow Skies, and December 12 at Bedford Esquires with Casual Panic.
