First Listen :: Boys
The first thing to say about Boys is that the name is rubbish. If someone mentioned to you a band called 'Boys', what would your first inclination be? To assume that there's a bit of the 'lad' about them, with plenty of attitude and some Britpoppy songs? You wouldn't probably be alone in that assumption, however, you would be way off the mark with these Boys, with their lo-fi, dreampop sound.
The three-piece outfit from West London formed in 2012, "as a joke at first, but then after playing some covers at Reading Festival and getting some good feedback" they decided to take it all a bit seriously. They "write and record all our music in our bedroom" (but they do not share the one bedroom, let it be known) have released two EPs and one single on their Bandcamp page: 'Summer Holidays' (EP, April 2013), 'In My Mind' (Single, July 2013), 'Secrets' (EP, Nov 2013).
Although as yet they have only played a handful of live shows (including one supporting Dexters), there are several opportunities upcoming in March to catch Boys, as follows:
March 01. Ruislip Social Club, Ruislip w/ Sunshine Underground
March 15. The Monarch, Camden, London
March 29. Surya, London
And as for that name? "We all chose the name, but we didn't think we'd actually end up taking it seriously, so we regret it now! But got to stick with it."
