There are some artists that you hear that just grab you within the first 60 seconds, and continue to keep you riveted to every single note and line throughout. When the unknown Manchester outfit called Hartheim emerged at the start of the year with their quite spellbinding epic intro 'Yellow' - which we introduced here along with a few words from the guys themselves - you knew then that this was going to be a band to turn out the big hitters.
Less than five months later the five-piece return with 'Welcome to Hartheim'. A shorter - just over three minutes, exactly half the length of 'Yellow's running time - track, and one that on first hearing may not come over as powerfully as its predecessor, but give it a couple of hearings and you'll find this is just as stirring and moving.
Working with Created in the SWAYS Records Bunker with producer Martin Hurley (Pins, Kult Country, Great Waves), Hartheim describe this new work as an "introduction to both the historic name of the band, and the band itself. The track has all the markers of anthemic pop, albeit warped and distorted to create the juxtaposition of light and dark." Detailing the suffering that took place within the castle of their name title (see link above for more in-depth detail), the three-minute sprawl slithers through an atmospheric narrative before arriving at its ultimate climax.
