Sydney-based psych rock trio The Walking Who - Rohin Brown, Jay Bird and Paul Mclean - have been honing the sound for their second EP, emerging with what can only be described as a sonic leap forward in their brand new single 'With Roses', which follows up their debut EP 'Mansions' last September, and before that the name-your-price 2011 album 'Candy Flu'.
'With Roses' certainly marks a change to their previous sound, which may or may not have been partly down to the band being kicked out of several studios before bringing in The Delta Riggs’ guitarist Alex “Rudy” Markwell to mix the single, and writing in the lush coastal setting of Byron Bay. Either way, there's a melodic Deerhunter type quality here, with a gorgeous guitar opening and a twanging quasi-country/Americana vibe.
