July 4 2014 - Hot Top Ten

BUFFALO SUNN - BY YOUR SIDE
Single released last month from forthcoming debut album 'By The Ocean, By The Sea' by the Dublin six-piece (which includes four brothers) alt-rockers who are big on reverb-laden harmonies.

HUGH - I CAN'T FIGURE YOU OUT
The samples, synths and sultry vocals of the south London band, making their debut with the title track from the EP out on July 21. They say their name was inspired by the actor Hugh Grant.

CODE PIE - RELATIVELY GOOD
B-side to the Montreal outfit's 'Let Me' single released last week thru Flagless Records. Quite a departure for the band who've even covered Justin Bieber.

BAD SUNS - WE MOVE LIKE THE OCEAN
The Californian four-piece bring a Pacific ocean breeze with this lead track from their just released debut album ''Language & Perspective'.

THE HIGH & LONESOME - A BEAUTIFUL MIND
Lead track from the just released self-titled debut EP from this Sydney five-piece - a 6 minute-plus, Nick Cave-esque piece. Alex Dew's vocal is something else.

BAD BREEDING - BURN THIS FLAG
There are no words. Already been our Track Of The Day this week, this two minute blast of punk blows everything else to pieces in comparison.

APACHE DARLING - MORE THAN ME
Debut from Glasgow electro synth three who take their name from The Shadows classic 60s tune. Formed by Stefanie Lawrence and Andrew Black last year, this first release is out on August 3.  Catch them live on July 30 for a hometown show at Broadcast.

SOMETHING ANORAK - I AM A DOCTOR
New signings to the Bristol label Howling Owl, electronic lo-fi ambience based around the falsetto of Chris Barrett (with cousin James on drums).

VOYAGEUR - WASTELAND
Remember this little beauty of last November? The distinctive soul-rich vocals of Liam O'Donnell (Various Cruelties) are back on this new track and under a new name. Taking up where 'Tear My Heart Out' left off recently, this takes EDM, synths, loops and nice production to make for a top class track.

CASITAS - DOMINOES
Follow-up to 'Gold' which came out earlier in the year, the now London-based five are back with the digital release of this sprightly pop track on July 11 which we featured here. Catch them at Sebright Arms in London on July 19.
