Track Of The Day :: The Occupants - Streets

The Occupants, Sydney-based brothers Flynn and Luke Gower, follow-up 'I’ve Been Thinking' and the eight minute long 'Wonderland' with a new single, 'Streets' which was released this Monday thru Pavement Records.

Once again teaming up with producer Forrester Savell and Melbourne musician Leigh Davies, the duo headed back to the infamous Music Farm studios in the hills of Byron Bay to continue their exploration of fusing organic and electronic sounds. The resulting 'Streets' sounds quite light and melodic - and a lot shorter than 'Wonderland', for those with a limited attention span - with Flynn's semi-falsetto sounding at times not too unlike an early Sting.

Given that both the Gowers were formerly with the rock band Cog (Flynn was also guitarist in funk metal band The Hanging Tree), this new synth-lined venture is something of a musical departure, but with the right exposure they could well end up occupying earwaves and airwaves.
