Listen :: New Zealand's Grand Rapids 'Wreck & Ruin'
New Zealand's Grand Rapids is the five-piece band put together a few years ago by Ben King, formerly of Goldenhorse.
With a few releases already under their belts, 'Wreck & Ruin' is the melancholic but uplifting, latest offering from the Auckland-based songwriter which showcases his emotive vocals and laid-back likeability.
The video accompaniment was directed by Si Moore and made from manipulated late 1940’s footage from a Greyhound promotional film.
"We were searching for some kind of disarming and charming historical footage that had that 50s-ish facade of 'everyone here is happy' - in fact, the original reference was that old American sitcom Happy Days.” says Moore. “We lucked across this one little clip. Ben and I both fell in love with it. It took a while to track down the whole thing, but we found a guy who owned the rights to it, talked him round and he loved the idea of making it look crazy."
'Wreck & Ruin' is available now via Bandcamp and iTunes.
