September 5 2014 - Hot Top Ten

PURLING HISS - FORCEFIELD OF SOLITUDE
The Philly garage rockers rev up the guitars and get their psych on for this drone piece from the 'Weirdon' album out on September 23 via Drag City.

HAPPYNESS - WHEN YOU WAKE UP
Laid-back minimalism on the B-side to 'Anything I Do Is Alright', which came out this week, from the south London three-piece.

SEA OLEENA - IF I'M
Atmospheric single cut with snappy beats that builds to an ambient, lingering and haunting end, from Montreal-based Charlotte Loseth aka Sea Oleena. Taken from the album 'Shallow', out on September 30 via Lefse.

KID TRENCH - I'LL BE WAITING
If the high falsetto doesn't get you crossing your legs on this first offering from the Belfast singer / producer, then the melody certainly will keep you gripped. A name to watch.

MODERN FACES - MATTER OF TIME
Released last week, one side (w/'Lufthansa') of the AA single from the five-piece, looking and sounding like a Kasabian/Oasis...the former also happens to rate these Dunfermline rock'n'rollers.

MOONLANDS - YEARS
Taken from their recently released debut EP 'Paradise Blue' by the London/Brighton four-piece fronted by Lucy Elliott, ex of We Spies. Catch them live at The Finsbury, London on September 9.

ONLY GIRL - FEEL IT
Quite a debut single for south London's Ellen Murphy, who we featured here as our Track Of The Day. Kate Bush does R&B. Stunning.

SPRAY PAINT - THREESOMES CAN WAIT
Second - interestingly titled - cut from the Austin, Texas punk trio's third album 'Clean Blood, Regular Acid' (out September 23 thru Monofonus Press), filled with off-kilter guitars and typically unregulated vocals.

THE WHITEST CROW - GIVE UP ON LOVE
New single digitally released thus week from the Bangkok rock / psych quartet we heard back in early summer - see here - and who, judging by the response we had to them, must be hotter than a Thai curry. พวกเขา หิน

WHYTE HORSES - THE SNOWFALLS
Psychedelic dreampop debut from new Mancunian outfit - the work of  Dom Thomas who founded Finders Keepers and Twisted Nerve labels - out on October 20 via CRC Music. Catch them with a live launch at London's Underbelly on October 16.
