Track Of The Day :: Weirds - Dig
After our Five Minutes With... Weirds back in July, and following the self-released "savage onslaught of sickly-sweet desert rock, grungey riffs and menacing vocals" that was 'Off The Hook', the Leeds four-piece are now back, with perhaps their best work yet.
Like their debut tracks, the double A-side ‘Yolk’/‘Crocodile', ‘Dig’ is another which doesn't hold back. A three-minute psychy puncher, with a great Western-style opening guitar sequence, which was apparently written in a "sweat-drenched basement late this summer", and is the band’s first release on their Heavy Records imprint.
The video that accompanies the track
- created by the band's vocalist Aiden - is an implosion of American Fronterism.
‘I wanted to create an unsettling watch, somewhere between a kaleidoscopic trip out and a low budget cowboy Western,’ he explains.
After sharing stages with the likes of Pulled Apart By Horses, Traams and God Damn, Weirds are set for a headline tour in January.
