Track Of The Day :: East Of Here - Where You Came From
We don't know too much about East Of Here, but we do actually happen to know where they come from: Sydney, Australia.
The duo, 21-year-old Joel Spiteri on guitar and keyboards, and vocalist/guitarist Mike Holm, 23, met while playing in another Sydney-based band, and started jamming together. Both sharing a similar music interest in such artists as Banks, The National, The Jezabels and Ben Howard, they decided to join forces just this autumn.
Combining a mix of layered guitars, smooth vocal melodies and electronic production, ‘Where You Came From’ is the first taste of East Of Here - which they intend to release as part of their debut EP early next year - and one which would augur well for what might come next from them.
Lyrically, ‘Where You Came From’ they say was inspired by the idea of social attitudes and differences. The track reflects on the contrast between people who have to work hard for everything they have, and those who have everything handed to them without putting in any effort.
