March 27 2015 - Hot Top Ten


AQUARIAN BLOOD - SAVAGE MIND
Memphis duo, Ex-Cults’ JB Horrell and his wife Laurel Ferdon, formerly of Nots, turn out this frantic punk Record Store Day debut single, helmed by Ferdon's ferocious vocals and abrasive guitars, that sounds like it could easily have come straight from the 70s.





SWOONS - PAPERCUTS
B-side to single 'The Night' - featured here last month - out March 30, from the vibrant Bucks three-man outfit, swoony guitars, and a driving and powerful vocal. See them live at Barfly, London on April 24.





PINKSHINYULTRABLAST - RAVESTAR SUPREME
Radiant harmony, buoyed by piercing guitars and jets of synth in this new single from the Russian shoegaze quintet, out March 30 via Club AC30. On tour in UK through May, they kick off April 30 at London's Village Underground.





MALPAS - UNDER HER SAILS
Out on April 27 thru Killing Moon, the debut single from songwriter Ali Forbes and producer Andy Savours. Melds honeyed vocals with a densely textured backdrop of acoustic electronica, handclaps, synths and dreamy soundscapes.





A GRAVE WITH NO NAME - I WILL RIDE A HORSE
Recording project of London-based Alexander Shields. Drifting second track taken from the fourth album (recorded in Nashville with Lambchop’s Mark Nevers) 'Feathers Wet, Under the Moon', out via Lefse on May 4 in UK.





HOUNDSTOOTH - BORDERLANDS
Portland, Oregon quartet fusing dreampop and Americana, taken from their upcoming 'No News From Home' album, out March 31 via No Quarter. The follow-up to 2013's 'Ride Out The Dark' once again highlights Katie Bernstein's inviting vocals.





TREE BLOOD - I WANT YOU TO CRY
The noise punk Minneapolis trio give a taste of their raw propulsive DIY sound on this debut single from their first LP, 'I Am A Disgusting Pig', out on April 7 via Forged Artifacts. We're sure they're lovely really.





REYKJAVIK KIDS - REYKJAVIK KIDS
Not from the far reaches of Iceland curiously enough, but the duo of Paul Tissington and Scott Munro, who hail originally from the banks of Newcastle's Tyne and now to be found London's Thames, where they fused indie, dance and punk influences into this Record Store Day release on April 18 via Tigre Fair Records.





ILES - IN TENTS
First single from LA-based songwriter Tristan Johnston taken from his upcoming debut LP 'Apartments' (out in May via Forged Artifacts) which takes its title from bring written over a period of six years in between moving around apartments.





EMILE BERNARD - THE STRANGEST TIME
Melancholic, almost chant-like, piano track taken from London singer / songwriter Paolo Fornasari's debut EP, 'The Distance Between Us', out May 4.
