Track Of The Day :: Beach Baby - No Mind No Money

Beach Baby certainly seem to be upping the ante in the short time of their being known under the new moniker. 'No Mind No Money' follows the London four-piece's debut with engaging first offering 'Ladybird', and its B-side, 'Bruise'.

On this new track, as with the aforementioned 'Ladybird', there's a loaded weight of irony in the lyrics - “Honey in my mouth/So sweet” - which Ollie delivers via Manuka coated vocal cords. Maybe not as instantaneous as 'Ladybird', but give it a few listens and the lushness of its indie pop guitar glow will surely be like nectar to the ears.

We still can't believe the change in this band - the growing confidence, the polished melodies, the sharp production - from just a couple of years ago in their previous guise. Unknown as it is for Little Indie not to 'out' bands when they re-emerge under another name, we have kept our counsel here and not given the name they went under; partly as we were not overly enamoured with them before and now feel a little shamefaced that we were somewhat critical in our live review and elsewhere.

'No Mind No Money' is out on June 22 via Chess Club Records.
