Not a reformed Annie Lennox/Dave Stewart collaboration, but the more recent Torquay-based Tourists, who follow the release of their second EP ‘Hidden Desires’ with their James Bragg (Gengahr) produced new single, ‘All We Do Is Pretend’.
Out September 18, it has that sunny vibe to its lush synth pop/rock sound that weaves in intricate reverb guitar lines, some art-funk bass and 80s synth leads. But it is Jamie Giles’ vocal delivery that is the winning factor: the kind of voice that you just want to keep on listening to. And which is a fortunate thing, as despite the track being a good one, shaving off that extra 38 seconds of its 4:38 minute duration might have tightened it up a little as it drags a touch in the last half.
