December 4 2015 - Hot Top Ten

SCARLET - HEAVY
Manchester/Liverpool grunge-gazers fronted by Jessie Robinson with a new punchy track (produced by Michael Johnson - Joy Division, New Order, Stone Roses) from their upcoming debut full-length, following on from first single ‘Anyway’ back in April, and EP ‘Fishes’.

LISKKA - KEEP ME AWAKE
The London four-piece follow their self-titled debut EP with this ghostly vocalled release encompassing organic oboe and trumpet and samples that draw on electro pop and R'n'B. Catch live at St Pancras Old Church, London on December 14.

DEER - ALL ALONE (Ft. Martin King)
Melbourne-based producer Tom Hitchcock's collaboration with Melbourne artist Martin King (Oscar & Martin, The Harpoons) that instils soulful, RnB vibes, with chilled electronica and vocals from King.

MYSTERY JETS - TELOMERE
Lead single from upcoming self-produced album - their first in three years - 'Curve of the Earth', out January 15 2016, and available to download now, the track (inspired by a line in a Milan Kundera novel) is a piano-led piece of big and impassioned indie pop.

ISLAND - I'VE BEEN SEARCHING
Third single from the debut EP 'Girl' (released last Friday on Beatnik Creative) by the Palace-esque, London-based-by-way-of-Oxford foursome, following single, 'Stargazer' released back in the summer.’ Feather-light guitar, mellow indie pop rhythms and incisive lyrics.

TOM GREENWOOD - YOU
First outing for the one man DIY indie pop-gaze bedroom project, released with 'Anything But Yourself'. Interesting vocals that feel more American East Coast rather than Bow, east London.

THE PICTURE PALACE - MALFUNCTION
From the fertile indie wastes of High Wycombe, if the gorgeous wailing John Squire-esque guitar doesn't stir you, vocalist Sam Hunn may remind of early Brummies The Twang. Taken from second EP 'Kedai' released last month.

GLINTS - SIRENS
Second single taken from the upcoming self-titled EP by Belgian Jan Maarschalk Lemmens with producer Jergan Callebaut (VUURWERK) and guitarist/producer Mathias Bervoets, combines alt-pop with hip hop.

CLUB KURU - YOU DONT KNOW
Taken from the 'Layla' EP, released last week on Believe Recordings by London-based producer Laurie Erskine, following up last year's debut EP 'All The Days'. Analog synths combine with guitars, hip-hop beats infused with R&B.

TRITONIC - SUMMERTIME
What happens if you take the George Gershwin composed jazz standard and hand it to a bunch of hardcore experimentalists? Well, this really. From the London-based trio's three-track debut EP 'Swimmer' out on December 6.
