Track Of The Day :: Bryde - Wait

Words: Ellie Ward

Welsh girl Sarah Howells - better known as part of folk-pop duo Paper Aeroplanes - is now creating a fresh wave of interest in her new solo project as Bryde.

The Pembrokeshire-raised, now London Brixton-based singer/ guitarist officially unveils her debut single 'Wait' on January 11 2016 via Seahorse Music.

Recorded in one day at 50:50 studios by Dougal Lott at The Chocolate Factory in Wood Green, north London, 'Wait' displays a fragility of emotive folk-pop; fragmented textures of electric and crystalline vocals. It's somewhat dark, minimal and ultimately gripping. Taken from an as-yet-untitled proposed EP collection, with everything - including the cover artwork - is based around the concept of a ‘mirage-like relationship’.

Bryde plays London's St Giles In The Fields on December 11, followed by early New Year dates: Servants Jazz Quarters, London on January 19, and Bicycle Shop, Norwich on 31st.
