HOLY ESQUE - TEAR
Anthemic, emotion-filled limited edition 7" release via Beyond The Frequency from the Glaswegian band’s debut album 'At Hope’s Ravine', out February 26. Singer Pat Hynes says: “’Tear’ is a great example of two of the central themes of the album – darkness vs. light and hope. The song has an emotional weight and looks at the ever-constant fears and woes of everyday life against the hope of something better." Star rating: ****/5

NAP EYES - ROLL IT
From the new album 'Thought Rock Fish Scale', out February 5 via Paradise of Bachelors, the Canadian quartet's frontman Nigel Chapman describes this track as: "about theory of mind. You are trying to understand why you didn’t get your way. Imagining what the other person was thinking, did you get past your initial doubt to remember that other people have their own minds, different from yours?” The album was recorded live to tape, with no overdubs, on the North Shore of Nova Scotia. Star rating: **.5/5
