** PREMIERE ** Plaudits - Honest

Words: Linn Branson

Plaudits are a new electronic three-piece from Leicester. Formed early last summer between brothers Richard and Steven Green, together with vocalist Chris Reid, they have spent the last months working on their debut EP, filming a short documentary, and "planning our approach to promotion," they told Little Indie last week.

Sending us their first two tracks, it was 'Honest' which struck an immediate chord with us, and as the band's first release we are proud to premiere here.

Influenced by "all things electronic", the four-minute self-produced 'Honest' takes a driving beat, adding piano, melodic guitars and Reid's searing vocal over the top, to create a rather fine debut track that is both vibrant and effective, yet also darkly stirring.

"'Honest' was one of our first demos," Plaudits tell us. "Steve wrote a piece for piano, then
added lots of delay, basically just because he was playing around with ideas. The track contained a very simple beat that was tapped out, but we
found that the piano and beat combined created a dance 'feel'. So, even though we altered the drums, we wanted to keep that punchy, driving beat to maintain pace. We feel/hope that the vocals,
subtle guitar, and bass provide enough to maintain interest and denote shifts within the track."

'Honest' is publicly streaming on Soundcloud from January 29, and available from iTunes as of February 12.

Follow-up, 'Reasons', is set for release on March 11, prior to Plaudits' five-track debut EP, 'Hinterland', out April 1.

Plaudits are: Chris Reid (vocals/guitar), Steven Green (keys), Richard Green (bass/ keys)
