Listen :: Lake Ruth - The Inconsolable Jean-Claude

Words: Sam Geary

Sounding part like a 70s TV drama theme, part like a French love song, Baroque psych-pop outfit Lake Ruth's 'The Inconsolable Jean-Claude' b/w 'The Prisoner's Dilemma') is their rather quirky debut 7" single, released on February 22 on The Great Pop Supplement label.

Lake Ruth - formed by vocalist Allison Brice (The Eighteenth Day Of May), instrumentalist Hewson Chen (The New Lines) and drummer Matt Schulz (Holy Fuck, SAVAK, Enon) - are hard to define under one genre as their style encompasses everything from psych to chamber pop and experimental. 'The Inconsolable Jean-Claude’, mixed by Greg Hughes of Still Corners, is an imagined portrait of the highly-regarded cult French composer Jean-Claude Vannier.

It's different.
