New Sounds #41 - March 31 2016

PACIFIC HEIGHTS - BURIED BY THE BURDEN (ft. Louis Baker)
The new single from the on-the-rise New Zealand producer Devin Abrams released this week, and taken from his debut album 'The Stillness', out May 27 via Create/Control. Smoothly evocative, lushly textured electronica with guest vocalist Louis Baker adding the icing on the top. Star rating: ***.5/5

GLASSHOUSE - BACK TO YOU
Brisbane duo follow up their BANKS cover ‘Brain’ with this lush indie-electro debut single from the duo Dom Buckland and Corey Brown. Buckland’s vocal glides over ambient echoing guitars and dreamy chorus in an atmospheric production. Released April 6. Star rating: ***/5

ISAAC GRACIE - TERRIFIED
Out this week, the 21-year-old West Londoner follows up 'Last Words', his debut released late last year, with another track from his debut EP, 'Songs From My Bedroom', released this week. Electric guitar, broken voice and currently much hyped after an acclaimed BBC Introducing’s SXSW showcase in Texas a few weeks ago. Might take a few hearings to catch on. See live at The Waiting Room in London on May 10. Star rating: ***.5/5

KINGSLEY CHAPMAN AND THE MURDER - CHILDREN SCREAM
Stockton's lord of dark cabaret songs reaches further into his depth as erudite lyricist and singer with this latest track recorded by Stephen Norman. Catch live at Northern Stage, Newcastle on April 15. Star rating: ****/5

PEYOTE COYOTE - FOLLOW THROUGH
Florida trio Peyote Coyote surf up some psych-rock with this latest taste of their self-titled EP, out April 30. Foot-tappingly infectious. Star rating: ****/5
