Introducing :: FABRICS
Words: Linn Branson
They describe themselves as a 'band from the shire'; the 'shire' in question being Hampshire, and 'they' being FABRICS, a hi-energy indie four-piece from Basingstoke that we could be hearing a lot more of in the months ahead.
Formed in the latter part of last year, they have just dropped their debut single 'Beachhead' - "a homage to summer" - on March 27, and bloody good it is too. A fast-paced jangly guitar three minutes, with some repeated "hey...hey...hey's" thrown in at the start to hook you in, and a few more at the end in case during the intervening jangly rhythms and catchy hooks section wasn't enough.
There's a lot to like about FABRICS, who tread a similar path to fellow Basingstoke outfit Habitats - crossed with a Two Door Cinema Club/Viola Beach vibe - and if they can fulfill the early promise they show on 'Beachhead' with their upcoming EP, they could well transpire to be a band on the lists of ones to break in 2017.
Fabrics are: John Simpson - vocals, guitar; Adam Hailstone - guitar; Jordan Stickland - bass; Tom Messenger - drums.
