The debut EP from Leeds four-piece band Clay is a fine introduction to the songwriting heart, brothers Joe and Jack Harvey. With these three crisp tracks they combine lyrical sharpness with vibrant, catchy melodies.
Lead track 'Why?' us a three-minute buzzy mix of danceable synth and guitars infused amongst the beats. 'Nothing Happened' takes the pace down a little but still shining on Harvey's much on-trend vocal style, before building up over synths and effects. Like 'Nothing Happened', third and final offering, 'Honest', employs full use of quirky electronic twists to punctuate what is perhaps Clay's best offering to date.
