Words: Sam Geary
Mancunian quartet Mad Winter (you might have known them as Islands prior to this year when they were more of an electronic persuasion) have just released last week their debut EP 'Emergence', with an animal costumed video to lead single 'Get Away' to accompany it.
The four 18-year-olds (who met at music college) cite influences such as Foals, Catfish and the Bottlemen, Noel Gallagher and Joy Division. 'Get Away' - one of the EP's three tracks with
‘Let Me Know’ and ‘Running Low’ - has all the right ingredients for an intro tune: catchy hooks, engaging vocals and flowing rhythm.
Mad Winter are: James Hartley - vocals, rhythm guitar; Scott Morris - bass, George Fitzgibbon - lead guitar, backing vocals; Callum Thomson, drums.
Mad Winter play The Castle Hotel, Manchester on September 6.
