New Sounds #108 October 25 2016

MATT WOODS - NOTHING LESS
London-via-Cornwall future soul singer-songwriter returns after 'Ain’t No Use' earlier this year with new track to showcase his dark, electronic R&B. 'This is probably both the saddest and most upbeat song I have put out so far” declares Woods. "I love the idea of people getting some joy out of what is really a heart breaking sentiment’. Star rating: ★★

FOX CHAPEL - DEAD FLOWERS
Released last Friday as the B-side to single ‘Ice Cream’ from the dark noise crew from Northampton that gloriously weaves post-punk squalls, ample distortion, with shredded psychedelic guitar hooks. A band to watch. Star rating: ★★

SOMEDAY I WILL MISS YOU - WALL AGAIN
The latest track from Croatia-based artist Dino Pavlov after 'Broken Toy E'. Capturing ambient, melancholic soundscapes via electronica and hypnotic, at times chant-like, lo-fi vocals in "a simple love song, an attempt to describe, both lyrically and musically, a variety of different feelings we've all experienced in our romantic relationships." Star rating: ★★

MOLLY - AS YEARS GO BY
Mellow, drifting Austrian shoegaze duo, Lars Andersson and Phillip Dornauer, from Innsbruck with the title track from their second EP released last week. Celestial heaven. Star rating: ★★

LITTLE ASHES - FIND THE LOST
New from Venice, California artist Robin Grubert who has written and produced multi-million selling, #1 platinum records with others and now turning his attention to own material with this debut R&B influenced electronic soul, "about walking away from a dark and lonely place and reconnecting with the things that make life so worth living.” Star rating: ★★
