Released last Friday, 'Smoke' is the debut from new alt-rock outfit from Ashford in Kent, Mosa Wild, a band who will be new to many, but not for long going on this.
However, as is often the case with 'new' bands sounding just a tad too good to be strictly new, Mosa Wild have been around in another guise for a few years, namely as The Intermission Project. Vocalist Jim Rubaduka and guitarist Alex Stevens, friends from college, formed TIP in 2011, joined by Charlie Campbell on drums, and dabbling along acoustic folk/soul lines.
Now expanded to include a bassist, their sound has departed from that of previous to up the ante on this first offering, a slow-building brooding number, that is driven by Rubaduka's rock-soul vocal and some neat interworking of guitar, keys, and harmonies.
Mosa Wild are: Jim Rubaduka (lead vocals, guitar, keys), Alex Stevens (guitar), Edwin Ireland (bass), Charlie Campbell (drums).
