Introducing :: South Island Son
Words: Ellie Ward
Manchester's South Island Son have so far just one track under their belt, the foot-tapping trop-folk delight 'One Year At Sea' which came out at the end of last year - with its follow-up 'Down The Slopes' arriving next month.
Formed by New Zealander Jonny Woodhead (hence the South Island name) last autumn, the four have lost no time in stamping their musical mark with their infectious and upbeat pop-folk rhythms.
South Island Son have a number of live dates lined up for the coming weeks, including a free charity gig on February 26 at the Brewhouse & Kitchen in Cheltenham for Hollyfest, and a single launch show at Manchester's Barber Below (under RCNQ) on March 4. See their Facebook for details.
South Island Son are: Jonny Woodhead - vocals, rhythm guitar, Tom Rothery - lead guitar; Ben Wiltshire - bass; Dan Wiebe - drums.
