Track of the Day :: Shrinking Minds - Something Better

Words: Jane Davies

The new single by Liverpool garage rock three-piece Shrinking Minds is guaranteed to kick start your day, in fact it will kick you out of bed and drag you half way down the road.

'Something Better', to be released on March 3 through The Label Recordings, is a riot of fuzzy guitar, full on bass and snarling vocals, massive chorus and as many hooks as it is possible to cram into three minutes.

Formed in 2014, the three friends - Liam Evans (vocals/guitar), Sebastian Martin (bass) and Jay Rohr (drums) - from high school who in their own words, "don’t take it very seriously; it’s just something that is quite fun for us to be doing", have wasted no time in garnering themselves acclaim from Annie Mac and Phil Taggart at BBC Radio 1 as well as airplay on BBC Introducing Merseyside, and building a reputation as one of the most exciting new bands in the 'pool.

If you fancy checking them out live, they will be playing as part of The Label Recordings showcase at the Arts Centre, Edge Hill University in Ormskirk on March 4 (w/Oranji Son, Ali Horn and Youth Hostel).
