Album Review :: Temples - Volcano

7.5/10

Words: Alison Mack

The Kettering psych pop band return with this self-produced second album, the follow-up to debut 'Sun Structures' of three years ago. They keep their own musical structures clear, building on tight harmonies and 60s retro waves on the likes of the trippy psych-fuelled 'Roman God-Like Man', while fuzzy guitar opener ‘Certainty’ and 'Oh The Saviour' both play homage to more contemporary spacey synth stabs, and closing number ‘Strange or Be Forgotten’ ensures 'Volcano' doesn't fall into the latter category, going out on a percussion overload.
