** PREMIERE** Marlon Brando Island - True Heroes

Words: Ellie Ward

Little Indie first heard the curiously named Marlon Brando Island last September when we featured 'Circle Of Throats', one of several tracks uploaded by the new East London three-piece.

Describing themselves as "playing loud guitar music" and "trying to write about difficult subject matter and make that subject matter accessible under the veil of a pop song", the alt-post-punk outfit now release their visceral 'True Heroes’, one side of their new double A-side single, which we can bring you here in its premiere hearing.

“This song originated as a dialogue between a mother and child, but I guess ended up as a bit of a prolonged peer into the abyss,” says vocalist/guitarist and MBI songwriter Marcus Fulcher, of the tough narratives playing out in this live favourite.

‘True Heroes’ displays plenty of astute, razor-sharp lyrical content in its sub-four minute duration, from the atmospheric guitar and vocal opening to the thrusting build into an expansive, irresistible salvo of tumbling rhythms and sharp, grab-you-by-the-throat interplay between band members which is set to become the band's trademark.

Catch Marlon Brando Island live when they play The Old Queens Head, London on April 20.
